After more than two decades of military service, Derek founded Still Breathing Equine with a simple but powerful vision: to create a place where Veterans, Active Duty Service Members, and First Responders could find hope, connection, and community through horses.

His own journey through life's challenges shaped his belief that healing begins with genuine relationships, quiet moments, and a community that refuses to let anyone walk alone.

Today, Derek leads the organization with a commitment to servant leadership, responsible stewardship, and ensuring every participant is welcomed with dignity and respect.
